Anthracite

Anthracite is a type of coal and is the coal type with the highest carbon content. It is harder and more glossy compared to other types of coal. Anthracite is known for providing high calorific value and containing lower moisture. Additionally, its low sulfur content makes it less harmful to the environment.

Properties of Anthracite:

High Carbon Content: Anthracite contains between 86-98% carbon, which allows it to produce more intense energy than other types of coal.

Low Moisture and Ash Content: It generally contains 6-8% moisture and has a very low ash content, which allows for efficient combustion.

Hardness: Compared to other types of coal, it is harder and shinier, providing higher energy density.

Low Sulfur and Nitrogen Content: Anthracite is considered an environmentally friendly fuel because it has low sulfur and nitrogen emissions.

Applications of Anthracite:

Energy Production: Anthracite is used in electricity generation in power plants due to its high calorific value.

Heating: It is preferred for heating, especially in large industrial facilities.

Metal Production: In the iron and steel industry, it is primarily used for coke production. Due to its high carbon content, it plays an important role in processing iron ore.

Chemical Industry: Anthracite can also be used in certain chemical production processes.

Water Purification: Anthracite is used as a filtration material in water treatment plants because its rough surface and high capacity to capture contaminants.
