Activated Charcoal for Decolourising Sesame Oil

The colour of sesame oil is an important factor in the production of sesame oil, which is traditionally obtained using an aqueous extraction method. In this method, the non-fatty components of the oil are separated by the different specific gravities of water and oil. Activated charcoal powder is used in the production of sesame oil to remove the colour and accelerate the precipitation of the oil.

In the production of sesame oil, activated charcoal powder is mainly used to remove colour. 3% activated charcoal powder is added at 80 degrees, mixed and the process is completed by filtering for 30 minutes.
